Mushrooms Everywhere: A Nice Day in December.

So I have been obsessed with mushrooms for quite a while, but lately things have started to reach a new level. When I’m out taking photos of them, I have started to recognize what family a lot of them are in (even if I’m not sure exactly what species), I know what ecological role they are probably playing, and I have even managed to identify a few more edible varieties with absolute certainty.

Today was a perfect day for a walk in the woods with my camera. It started out a little cool and rainy and then warmed up and got nice and sunny. I went for another walk in the woods later with my son.

Here are a few of the photos I shot today.

Note: These photos are to show the beauty of mushrooms. Don’t think that just because I am including a photo of a mushroom here, that it means it is edible. Mushroom identification is a skill that can be learned by almost anyone, but it takes a lot of time and effort.
